The Floor Shop is a local business with deep local roots. We’re proud of our position in the North London community and we do our best to support those most in need around us. In 2014 we made the massive decision to focus much of this effort on one local charity – Radiomarathon.
This worthy cause captured our hearts from the very start – because of those who give so much of their time and themselves to running the organisation and because of those who benefit from the charity’s facilities, young adults with special needs. They have become like family to us and, just like family, we care about their wellbeing and we want the best for them always.
Radiomarathon’s Enfield centre is regarded as the best of its kind in the region, a facility open to young adults with special needs, a charity dedicated to promoting joy and fun, to teaching practical skills such as cooking, gardening and horticulture and fostering talents through art and crafts, drama and football coaching. They even offer work experience to those who attend their centre to help them to improve their chances of finding jobs to enable them to benefit from greater independence and self-confidence.
The AQA qualified professional staff have years of experience each and this tells in the care and commitment they put into their time with every single young adult and activity they are responsible for. It is no surprise that they run the best centre of its kind in the area. There is a warm and friendly air to the place whenever we visit and, because we love popping in to see the kids and carers, we know that it’s not just for special occasions, but an everyday environment that all who work in the charity do their best to create and maintain.
We don’t just contribute financially to Radiomarathon, we go with our families to the fetes and seasonal events that the charity puts on and we donate wood and tools for the teachers to use in their woodworking workshops and training.
Finally, for the last couple of years we have also been donating 25p for every single square metre of flooring that we sell, and that’s a lot of square metres! The money we raise goes to support a vital pillar of our community and we’re proud to call them friends and be part of something so worthy.
